The University of Akron has reached an agreement with Playhouse Square and Akron Civic Theater to continue their Broadway series at E.J. Thomas Hall. Akron Civic Theater is providing box-office staffing and consulting for the university, and Playhouse Square is managing the marketing and finances. Gina Vernaci is the executive producer at Playhouse Square. She says the university reached out to them after it laid off employees because of a budget deficit, and the original producer terminated the contract with them. WKSU's Lauren Blue reports.

The fifth annual Ohio Land Bank Conference wraps up today in downtown Cleveland. The conference provides information for county and municipal officials, community and economic development officers and others interested in repurposing vacant and abandoned properties in their neighborhoods. The three day event is put on by the Western Reserve Land Conservancy's Thriving Communities Institute. The conservancy's Vice President Jim Rokakis says the main benefit of the conference is being able to brainstorm with other counties from across the state and see how they handle blighted properties. WKSU's Michael Bratton reports.

Lorain gets $15 million for Black River cleanup
The City of Lorain received a 15-million dollar grant today ...
The City of Lorain received a 15-million dollar grant today (Tuesday) from the U.S. EPA to clean up a major waterway. The money will be used to remove industrial contaminants from the Black River flood plain, as well as create a habitat area for fish and other wildlife. Susan Hedman is the Great Lakes national program manager for the EPA. She says the Black River was first identified as an "area of concern" 30 years ago following decades of pollution from local steel mills and shipbuilding operations. BRIAN BULL reports.
