A new speaker series called Safe Spaces kicks off tonight at Kent State University. The series is designed to immerse students in discussions on important national and global issues. Tonight's topic deals with the politics of discriminatory sports mascots. Cynthia Connolly is a citizen of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians and a speaker tonight. Twice a year, a six-mile stretch of the Cuyahoga River has enough sediment dredged out of it to fill more than 22,000 dump trucks. This allows shipping traffic to continue between Lake Erie and Cleveland's industrial sectors upriver. An executive order earlier this year by Gov.
